ECC is an ultra high performance concrete. Developed in the early 90’s to increase the hurricane and earthquake resistance of new buildings and structures, it looks and feels like traditional concrete but offers 300 times the flexibility.

​ECC replaces large rock aggregates with coated microscopic fibres; about half the diameter of human hair. These fibres contribute to ECC being 4 times stronger than traditional concrete.

For two and a half years, we worked with our production partners to develop and refine a manufacturing process that allows us to present concrete in a way that is refined but does not mask its raw beauty. Great importance was placed on retaining the character of concrete, yet providing a luxurious tactile surface to the touch. Just as importantly, we worked to increase its practical performance for a specifc use.
